Was mostly curious as to what causes tonsil infections. I’ve seen infections but never thought about what causes that to happen, til now.

Your tonsils act as a protector. They are the doormen at the entrance to your respiratory tract.
It is their job to prevent bacteria and viruses from entering and making you ill. Every time the tonsils are infected, it means that they have successfully stopped the organism from entering and making you more ill than you would be with tonsillitis.
Hop this helps.

I used to chew on pencils when I was younger; a nervous habit. My doctor finally asked me about it because I was getting tonsil infections regularly for a while. When I told him about the pencils, he said to stop doing it because anything that is handled with unwashed hands and gets put in the mouth will make your tonsils become infected easily. I stopped and so did the infections.
