Tonsillitis or glandular fever?
i’ve had tonsilitis before and what i’ve got atm feels abit like it but i’ve got terrible headaches and a fever and i’m exhausted the whole time, which apparently are symptoms of glandular fever as well and as i can get a doctors appointment untill the weekend i though i might ask some questions,
can you get tonsillitis more than once?
what are the differences between tonsillitis and mono?
what’s the cure, antibiotics or do you just wait for it to go away?
and how do doctors tell you have mono, like blood tests or what?

1.Yes, you can get tonsillitis many, many times. It can be caused by different bacteria and viruses.
2. Mono is a virus, and one if it’s SYMPTOMS is tonisillitis. Strep throat is also a huge cause of tonisillitis.
3. Your doctor should culture your throat. If it grows a bacteria, yes, antibiotics will help it. If it’s viral, you just need to wait it out.
4. Mono is detected through blood tests. They have rapid ones which are good because they’re fast, but they also are more likely to show false negatives.
So for now, get lots of rest, drink lots of fluids, and you can take Ibuprofen (also called Motrin and Advil) for the throat pain and/or fever up to every six hours.
