You will hate me for this but I had strep B (a worse version of tonsillitis) once and I was in Germany and my E111 was in france so no chance of seeing a doctor. Luckily for me one of my colleagues was almost a doctor with only 6 months of medical school left. He got me this stuff in a what looked like an Olbas oil dropper bottle which cleared up my throat in a day and a half. I bought the bottle back to the uk and offered it to someone at my work who had tonsillitis, she took one dose at 9am and her throat was cleared up and she was better by 1pm the same day. I wish I could remember what the stuff was called. The person who used it never gave it back to me and soon after moved away. It was about 18% alcohol but you only needed a tiny drop. So yes there is something to help your syptoms but I don’t know what its called. Sorry.
