tonsil removal and breathing tube?
I’m getting my tonsils out soon becasue I have those white smelly balls inside them all the time. I have a huge phobia of vomiting, so I wanted to get some information about the breathing tube and when you come out of the surgery. When you wake up is the tube still there or is it gone by then. Also do you feel nausua when you wake up, do you throw up? And if you do doesn’t that make the throat hurt more. I am 18 years old so I don’t know if the recovery time is longer becasue I’m not really young like 5. Someone please let me know, if your a doctor or you have been through this procedure. thank you so much!

you will not be conscious for the intubation or extubation (breathing tube insertion or removal). You will be in recovery, breathing on your own and tube out before you wake up. Some people do get nauseous after anesthesia, but most do not. 18 IS really young and you will heal very fast. You’re making worse in your mind that it will be in real life. The worse thing will be the IV insertion and that is a pinch for 4 seconds. After that, it’s cake.
I’d like to know who has more than 13 years of post op care experience and 2 personal surgeries more than I who gave me the thumbs down. I hope you are an anesthesiologist with 12 years experience and have had surgery yourself or you are just an idiot
Ventilators were my job for many years. I am a respiratory therapist. If the surgery goes well, the tube will be out when you get out of the OR. Your throat is going to be sore, so don’t talk. It isn’t worth it. The surgeon usually pulls the tube before you go into recovery. Don’t be afraid. You will be fine. I wish you the best of luck.
You’ll be fine–the breathing tube will be removed while you’re still out so you won’t have to worry about anything.
You may feel nausuated, depends on how you react to the drugs. I only felt nausuated when I had my epidural but not with my arm surgeries.
If you’re worried you can ask for anti-nausua medication.
You’ll be fine……….
Just ask to speak with the surgeon and the anesthesiologist before the surgery and ASK ALL THE QUESTIONS "YOU" WANT TO ASK.
ive had tonsilitis before. But all i did was eat as much as i can, drink lots of hot liquids, and gargle. My mom said that removing your tonsils will weaken your immune system.
nausea depends on how YOU react to the anesthia. It should be gone by the time you wake up though.
