We were told the adnoids might grow back ,which they did. They will grow back until the age of 5, that is when they stop growing. They had them removed again at 5yo and have not had any problems with either surgery. I did fine with my surgery... I woke up very sore of course but I got better quickly. I'm not sure how your granddaughter will react from the surgery because 14 months is very little, but she should be fine. It was 10 years ago when I had it done, so i'm sure they have improved the way they go about doing it. I do have sleep apnea though and have to use a CPAP machine. Sleep apnea is not always purely obstructive, but it has nervous system factors usually. What happens is that when a person stops breathing automatically it wakes him up slightly! This awakening causes the person to become semi conscious and take a breath! These events interupt ones sleep during the night! When one is a baby the noise of the alarm on the monitor will awaken the baby out of deep sleep! Also the parents or care giver can give aid if required! When I was in an operation I simply stopped breathing! No one knew I had sleep apnea including me! It kinda shook up everyone! Ended up in a sleep lab in a couple of weeks I have never felt better in my life! 61 years young! She will be well before you know it! Keep the monitor on! Have a wonderful day!
