Tonsil and Adenoid Surgery Help?

I am scheduled to have my surgery on November 2, 2007! i am really nervous. can anyone help? I know you have ice cream afterwards and you miss school, but i still do not wanna do it. i also know that it is for the best. anyone who has either tonsils and/or adenoids removed, can you pleeze answer?
The doc said that i will get the most terrible sore throat after. is it really as horrible as it seems?

IM GETTING THEM OUT ON NOVEMER 2ND TOO!!!
I AM SO SERIOUS
You dont get ice cream anymore becuase it make you sick now. Yes you get out the same day as you go in. Unless it is at night. Still thats a big COINCIDENCE because I AM GETTING MY TONSILS AND ADENOIDS OUT THAT SAME DAY.
Do you have school that day? I dont.
I had that done when I was 13. You will have some difficulty in swallowing for the first few days because of the swelling. I didn’t feel much pain at first. The pain came a few days later and it’s not that bad. Just also remember you will get all kinds of pain medication to help with the pain. You will have to eat only soft foods like chicken soup. Personally I thought pop sickles helped the pain better than ice cream. But make sure you have both so you can try them and see which works best for you. I hate to tell you this but when your still in recovery they are going to try and make you eat pop sickles and you’re not going to want them at all. Just remember that it will get better in time. Oh I almost forgot, you should never suck on a straw. I will hurt. Maybe using a straw to drink liquids are okay, but not anything thick like a shake. Take it easy!!
