It is usually the adenoid tissue blocking the drainage from the ears that is the problem. If they need to put in ear tubes, he is not draining properly.——-> recurrent ear infections, hearing loss. Usually, when they remove the adenoids, they take the tonsils too. If you do not want a child who is half-deaf, listen to the doctor. Get a second opinion to make yourself feel more certain about the procedure.
That was a long sentence.
Look up "tonsils removed" on here, and there will be questions on whether or not your son will have to get his tonsils removed.
I had my tonsils taken out when i was 18 and it was the worst pain i have ever experienced the drugs didn’t do anything to help
I would get it done young just to spare him the pain
mine were gone since i was 5, my wife had hers removed at 26.
neither of us ever experience too much respiratory problems. A lot of those problems might be allergies to something in the house as well .
The tonsils can cause problems too… being that hes having trouble with his ears too, you might want to go ahead and let them do it.
My wife had constant ear trouble until she had hers removed. no more ear trouble ever, and i can tell you from experience, the ears put you in misery when they hurt

You can always find a second opinion if you’re concerned.
Tonsillectomies aren’t done as frequently today as they were in the past, but they’re still occasionally done if there are problems with upper respiratory infections/inflammation.
In the past, tonsil removal was commonplace, as tonsils were thought to have no real function…and removal was actually thought to benefit the patient. More recent conscensus among health professionals is that tonsils are a functional part of the immune system, basically collecting/trapping germs before they get further, such as your respiratory system…only in rare circumstances are tonsils recommended for removal…a second opinion from another Otolaryngololist (Ear Nose Throat) doctor. The caveat about doing this, is that a lot of these doctors are also Surgeons, and generally, a lot of surgeons are quick to do surgery as the "be all" answer. Surgery is not necessarily always the answer….explore all options.
