Our little guy is on day 5 post surgery but has had a couple of night terrors where he is screaming, flailing, and doesn’t seem to respond to our talking to, comforting, or anything for that matter. It lasts up to 20 minutes and we can’t find any documentation on WHY this is happening. Does anyone know why exactly these occur, and what helps. Is this due to pain? Post anesthsia? or What?
Thanks.
I’ve been getting these stupid things for about 5 years, but they’ve been occurring more often in the past 6 months. I’ve attributed it to sinuses and the allergy season causing more post-nasal drip than usual (sorry, gross I know) … Anyway, I’m 23 and do not want to get my tonsils removed. I’ve tried gargling with listerine, warm salt water, lemon & cayenne tea, you name it, I still get them. Then I have to dislodge them with a Q-tip and that’s a whole other story as anyone with this annoying condition knows. I removed almost 20 of them (big and small) from just one tonsil this morning! So, basically I’m wondering if anyone has had any success in preventing the stones before they even happen. Please do not tell me to get my tonsils taken out!
I’m too old and the risks are too high.
I have lots of symptons what is wrong with me?
Since the summer now ive been feeling sickly with what would seem as a stomach bug symptoms such as flatulence, stomach pains, my stomach making noises and grumbling.
It got worse and I developed diarrhea and sometimes I couldn’t sleep at night due to the stomach pains.
I went to the doctor several times but only was told that there unsure what I have and simple declared it as IBS. I was given several tablets but they never worked.
My immune system isn’t so good these past few months, Ive been ill with flu, tonsillitis and many colds – sore throats, coughs etc
Another problem is that I have is cramps. In my legs and mainly my feet. I struggle to exercises sometimes because of this. I often get foot cramp at awkward times and have to go to public loos etc to stretch my feet out. I suffer from not being bale to handle foot as well as I used to, flatulence is embarrassing and I don’t want to be kept awake at nights with this.
Ive tried the doctors but only get told that there unsure what’s wrong? Ive tried keeping a food diary but bad outbreaks are so random to make sense of. I seem to allways be ill every other week.
Id be veryg ratefull for any ideas or help! thank you.

Today i just figured out i have tonsil stones. The bump i have on the back of my throat has been bothering me all day because it is close to my gag reflex thing.
I really want to get rid of it. Does anyone know any medicine i can take to make them go away?
I read online that you can push them out with a finger or q-tip. I tried it for like a second but it just grosses me out and makes me even more sick.
What is the easiest way to get rid of them? If you have ever had them, how did you get rid of them?
Thanks for all the help!
Anyone who had cryptic tonsils? I am talking about the ones that create the bacteria (tonsiliths/tonsil stones, what ever you want to call it). these terrible things smell like death themselves, and kill the breath. I always have sore throats, but not bothersome. I was told a tonsillectomy is the end all cure. I had the procedure done on 4-16-08, the doctor said that it should rid the problem for good. I would like to hear success stories with those who used a tonsillectomy for this very problem. I had the electrocaudery method, so its has very little chance for tonsil re-growth. if removal will stop me from being sick all the time, then is worth it. For those who can relate to my problem, did a tonsillectomy cure the death breath? Is having a tonsillectomy the permanent answer to the solution to problem? For those don’t know about tonsils stones. its the job of the tonsil’s collect all the bad junk. If cryptic or chronically ill they don’t do their job properly. Thanks
I have a staph infection. My tonsils were nasty looking, the doctor said. He gave me prescription for AUGMENTIN. Is it any good?? I am not used to this med.I have took Amoxillan before though (alone). I was surprised when found out it’s expensive but I assumed it was just Amoxillan.
how do I know if they gave me liquid, it said AUGMENTIN 20 doses? didnt say rather pill or liquid. ew hope its pill. thanks for replies
Ok so I got the flu shot probably in October. yesterday morning I woke up with a low-grade fever (100.3), horrible sore throat, stuffy nose, chills, watery eyes, a little pain in my ears, and body aches. I’ve had these same symptoms now for 2 days. Today I went to the doctor and he did like nothing, just looked in my throat and ears. He said my throat didn’t look too bad. He said it is probably the flu but he did nothing about it. He also said that if I still have a fever in 4 days to come back and he will rethink it.
My throat is the worst… I’ve had strep before but it doesn’t hurt THAT bad, but then again, when I had it they said I had a REALLY bad case of it, so i don’t know… BUT when I’m not on Motrin it almost does hurt that bad.
I don’t have my tonsils, so its not tonsillitis or anything either.
What do I have and what should I do?
THANKS IN ADVANCE!
I’ve started getting tonsil stones within the past few years. They haven’t caused any major problems like bad breath (I’ve asked my husband) and they don’t get so big as to require surgery to remove them. Usually I just cough them up. But every once in a while I get one that gets uncomfortable. It’s like when you get that popcorn skin stuck in the back of your mouth. I brush my teeth twice a day and use mouthwash every day but it doesn’t seem to help. I’ve read on a few websites that using oxygenating toothpaste and/or mouthwash helps. Is this true? Has anyone actually tried it or are these just crazy ads? I’ve already talked to my doctor and she just says they’re food particles (Which I already know is incorrect. Some of us just don’t have good doctors). Any advice? Anybody try anything that actually works? Thanks
What does bread have to do with it? I thought they weren’t food particles. I don’t eat chips, crackers or pretzles. I do eat whole wheat bread but rarely. My diet consists of a lot of dairy and produce.
