Need info on my upcoming tonsil removal!

After having my tonsils swelled up for over two years now, and becoming tired after the simplest exercisess, my doctor has recommendedd for me to get my tonsils removed. I will have them removed in 1 week and have some questions. How long is the operation???How much will it hurt??? How long will take me to recover??? And if anyone really wants to help, can they explain the procedure??? Thank You. Also I am 13 if it changes anything.

i am 27 and just had mine out, your procedure will be the same but your recovery may be easier. They will bring you in and start an IV, you go back in the operating room, and they will put you on the operating table, and give you medicine to make you go to sleep, anestesia, through the IV. during the procedure they will place a tube down your throat to breathe for you. i don’t know exactly how they cut them out but they did. i woke up in recovery, was given lots of pain medicine and felt ok, they had me stay for about an hour and made me pee before i could leave. i didn’t hurt until i got home, and not really really until the next day. i threw up a few times that day ( i dont handle anestesia well) i did throw up blood from the surgery, which looks like coffee grinds, that is normal, so don’t freak if it happens to you. i din’t talk for almost a week. i took pain meds and laid in bed all day. i hate jello and applesauce so there wasn’t much to eat. anyhting dairy made my spit thicker and harder to swallow so no ice cream or yogurt either. you have to take a lot of pills. steroids for the swelling, antibiotics to prevent infection, and pain meds. i have a baby so it was hard for us both to deal with me not talking to her. after swallowing was easier my outh, espically my tounge was really sore. it hurt to move to the side of my mouth, and my jaw hurt to chew. you can e-mail me with any questions. i din’t work for 2 weeks, but they said it is a lot easier and less painful when you are younger. also don’t be afraid to ask your dr any questions no matter how silly you think they are.
I got mine out in the 4th grade so I dont think it could be too different at 13.
I dont remember how long the operation was, but you dont feel a thing cause they put u to sleep. It doesn’t really hurt u just cant talk too much the first day. Also cold things help ur throat out a lot. It took me about 2 weeks to fully recover to wear i could scream and know nothing would hurt. Sorry I don’t know the procedure, but I hope what I’ve said helps.
Don’t worry the doctor will know what they’re doing and everything will be fine.
yeah i had mine out when i was really young like 5 or 6. Its not really painfull it just is sore kind of and you cant talk very well. But eating is still fine ice cream feels great and soft foods/ I would recomend doing it because there are a bunch of benifits from getting it out. You will not feel to pained or anything post surgery. good luck!
