i’ve had tonsil stones for a long time but lately they really hurt, makes my throat really sore, and i makes it feel like i have a rock the size of a golf ball on the side of my throat that hurts a ton, should i get medical attention or is this fixable at home? if it is fixable at home what can i do to fix it?

I saw,on a Dr. Oz episode. He recommended using a clean qtip to push on the tonsil very gently to dislodge the stones and then spit them out. This happens to me sometimes. I usually just use my finger to push it out and then I spit them. They are usually whitish colored little balls that look like cottage cheese.
If this is a chronic problem (more than 6 months, or frequent trouble with it) you should have them removed. Until then, suck on hard candies & gargle with warm salt water.
