Is tonsil removal a bad thing?

My mom suggested that I get my tonsils removed, but my friend tells me that my voice may change if I do get them removed. I’m in an Advanced Womens’ Chorale at school and I’m concerned about this, is the voice changing tonsil rumor true?

I am a singer and I had mine removed at age 12 and it has never caused any issues for me. If you are getting recurrent tonsil infections, I would ask you to consider getting them removed. I did and it was never a problem afterwards. Before I had to miss school and some performances.
no. tonsil removal is a good thing if you have a lot of probs w/ your tonsils..
if not it could still be a good idea incase you do ever start having trouble with them.
