Is cepacol safe to use after a tonsil removal?

I had my tonsils removed on Tuesday and wanting to know if the lozenges are on a okay list to use for pain/discomfort.

Yes, if you are just wanting to keep the throat and mouth moist. Of course, you won’t want to gargle with anything- Cepacol included. But if you just want to swish the liquid after you brush, it’s fine and won’t hurt anything. It may, however, make your throat burn when the antiseptic hits the raw spots. As far as the lozenges, they work to help you keep the mouth moist, but they taste terrible and hard candy will work just as well, and taste better. Not to mention, they are cheaper.
No, you have an open wound because of the removal of your tonsils so I would not consume any medications that are not meant to be digested in your stomach such as pills or capsules. Also, do not consume any acidic drinks such as soda, orange juice, etc because this will irritate your throat and the healing incision that the doctor made to remove the tonsils. Eat and drink foods at luke warm (room temperature) to prevent further irritation because any further irritation will only prolong your healing time. You can take drugs like Ibuprofen over the counter but be careful because they thin your blood and your wound might be more prone to bleeding. Start this medication a good week after the surgery to help with the inflammation. Hope this helped, stay healthy.
