is a viral tonsil infection contageous?

and if it is would it affect someone who’s already had their tonsils removed?

If it is a different strain of the virus then yes it could effect anyone.
Yes. Any bacterial or viral infection can be contagious. And its only deemed tonsillitis if you have tonsils to infect. If you have no tonsils (like me) its just a throat infection or strep throat etc.
