How soon can I go back to school after tonsil surgery?

I’m going to get my tonsils removed because of frequent tonsil stones. I’m 17 years old, and in an honors program in college so I can’t afford to take time off!
Is it realistic to go back to school a few days after getting them removed?

When i had my tonsils out I was out of college for a week. It also depends on what day you’re having surgery, if it’s towards the end of the week you may be able to go back for the following Monday. I was just pretty sore and only ate liquid foods for the first few days.
my friend was back to school in about a week or 2
Hi there. I would try to have your surgery on a Thursday afternoon, if possible. Then you may be able to back to school on Monday or Tuesday. It depends on how large your tonsils are and how quickly you bounce back.
I had very large tonsils (cherry tomato size) which were abcessed, removed at age 28. The older your are, the harder it is. I needed about a week, but I’m kind of wimpy. I couldn’t swallow the Codeine pills because my throat was so swollen. Even water came out my nose. So you might want to ask your doctor for a liquid pain killer, if possible.
I’m sure medical prodcedures have improved since my surgery (1988).
So good luck and take care of yourself, I’m sure you’ll be fine. I hope this helps you!
Sincerely,
Katy
