How long until tonsil pain goes away?
Its been ten days, the average amount of time i have heard it takes to recover from tonsil removal. Im still in lots of pain, and when i eat i get serious pain in my ears which causes my brain to explode. Ive lost ten pounds from not eating due to the pain and it doesnt seem that its getting better. How much longer do i have to wait and will i get better gradually or at once? THANKS!

It will take one to two weeks. The pain in your ears is related to referred pain from the throat, nothing is wrong with your ears! Even though it is painful, you should be eating – particularly hard and grainy foods e.g. toast as they will aid recovery. If the pain really is too much – see your doctor for further analgesia. You should be, at the minimum, taking paracetamol, a non steroidal medication and codeine.
When your neck muscles are tight they press into your throat with enough pressure to trap your tongue muscle to make your throat really sore. Your neck muscles are still tight for removing the tonsils doesn’t free up the neck muscles. Here’s how to free up your neck muscles to get your relief from the pain you are having:
Neck Release:
Place your hands behind your head touching your fingers. Press into the back of your neck with them and hold the pressure on them. After 45 seconds slowly lower your head until your neck is fully extended. Release the pressure but hold your head there for another 30 seconds.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
