   Usually, tonsil stones are visible. They could be very small or quite large. I get tonsil stones often, but they do not cause any breathing troubles and they do not make my tonsils swell, so I have not gone to the doctor for them. They will look like off-white pieces of food stuck on either one of your tonsils. Sometimes I am able to actually remove them myself if they’re loose enough. if they’re not loose enough, I just wait a few days and eventually I cough them up. I also gargle with listerine sometimes. It’s very strong so it kills the bacteria. Make sure that when you gargle you put your head back and kinda make that gargling noise. Good luck!

   I gently probe/poke the little monsters out-its unbelievable what is tucked behind the crevices.And they stink badly. Sinuses,cold etc bring them on but they seem to occur almost anytime!

   You can flush them our or use a qtip, but you can also change the conditions in your mouth that cause tonsil stones to flourish. Have a look at the site below for more detailed information on tonsilloliths.
