Question #1: Tonsillectomy isn’t a 100% guarantee that you won’t have another infection but it will greatly reduce the number & severity of infections. Some people will never be bothered again. In light of your health history, tonsillectomy must have already been recommended.
Question #2: Tonsils stones (tonsilloliths) require tonsils, wouldn’t you agree?
Question #3: There’s no age limit to tonsillectomies but recovery is harder on you the older you are.
If you are allergic to something, then removing your tonsils will not help much, because then instead of upper tract infection you could have a lower tract infection.
You can have tonsils removed at any age.
Best thing would be to avoid ice.
And if you start any antibiotics, make sure you complete the entire course.
