Tonsillitis Symptoms Archives

I woke up on friday with a really bad fever and of course I was freezing cold and my whole body hurt. I ended up having a headache most of the day but it wasn’t excruciating pain or anything, and I had some foot pain near my heel. My back was also hurting a lot my upper back hurt a little but it was mostly my lower back. I wasn’t real concerned about the back pain because my lower back has been hurting for about a month (probably from gymnastics), but my joints were all hurting and I felt worse than I ever have with a fever. I had trouble sleeping that night and woke up every 1-3 hours. At #am I gave up on trying to sleep and took a bath to see if that would help, which it didn’t, but I did manage to kill 40 minutes. I finally went to sleep at around 5:30 or 6:00. When I woke up on Saturday I felt somewhat better. I wasn’t freezing and I only stayed under blankets or wore long sleeves about half the time, but I also had new symptoms. My back pain had worsened but it had moved primarily to my upper back, and then instead of back pain I got pain on the back of my right shoulder. The shoulder pain was very sharp and painful and would come and go. My throat was also hurting some and my taste buds were off but I had a bit of an appetite (which was not the case of Friday) and I had a mild earache. Another thing (probably the worst) was the headaches. They were downright horrible (and I do have a pretty high pain tolerance). Every time I got up the head aches would get really bad, so bad that I would hold the sides of my head. The head aches were a little less severe if I got up slower, but not much and my neck started to hurt too, even from just turning my head and my foot pain from Friday had worsened. The sore throat got progressively worse throughout the day till it hurt to swallow and the joint pain was still there, and my joints were cracking more than usual (which they did on Friday too btw). By 8pm I was getting awful pain just from speaking and if I said more than a few words It would get so bad that I’d cover my mouth immediately after cause it hurt so bad. (Not sure why covering my mouth helped but it did.) Around 11 I could feel mucus developing in my throat. At around 1:30 am I showered and afterward I coughed up the mucus which was extremely disgusting. It was really thick, thick enough that I could have picked it up if I had wanted to, which I did not. It also looked like it had some blood in it, not a lot but I could definitely see red, it was thin though like ribbons, which seems strange to me. My throat felt a Little better after the mucus incident but it still feels like its being slashed by razors. I looked in my mouth and my tonsils look pretty swollen and red, I tried to take a pic for you guys but I was not successful, so I guess you’ll just have to live with my description. You didn’t really want to see that anyway, did you? I can’t sleep again tonight, I knew it was hopeless so I gave up after an hour of trying. I am a little tired and I certainly would like to sleep but it just doesn’t seem to be working. So far none of the symptoms have really changed since Saturday and my throat has never hurt like this before, although I often have pain swallowing when I’m sick, but its never been this painful. I did some research and found out I have pretty much all the symptoms of tonsillitis. If you actually read this whole thing, you’re highly awesome. =] Sorry it was so long. Anyway its almost 5am and I’m waiting for some good answers. What do you think it is and what should I do about it, oh and any tips on how to get to sleep would be great?

Are my symptoms possibly from an std like HIV?

I researched on the internet about my symptoms and was not happy to find that some are similar to people with HIV. I had a sexual encounter and 3 days later I came down with tonsillitis. I left the state and went on vacation so I just assumed I had caught something on the plane. If so, I became symptomatic in less than 24 hours. Is that possible? The girl I was with never did get sick so I didn’t think I caught it from her. After I got home I came down with a sinus infection and have had it ever since, about 2 weeks total now. The internet says some people with HIV get soar throats and a dry cough at first, sometimes within a couple days. Am I being paranoid? Are my circumstances just an unlucky coincidence?

For the last mouth i haven’t been that well
First of i had tonsillitis
Then i had a blocked ear due to fluid
Now i have come up with these symptoms and i not sure what it could be
high temperature ,muscle aches, headache, i have also been sick, i feel really weak like ive got no energy, loss of appetite, im really tired
Does it sound like the flu or could it be something else
Should i see the doctor

Any advice welcome
thanks for your answers but ive been to a doctor and guess what he said
Virus, a bug
I hate that word, it seems that there answer for everything lol

I have lots of symptons what is wrong with me?
Since the summer now ive been feeling sickly with what would seem as a stomach bug symptoms such as flatulence, stomach pains, my stomach making noises and grumbling.
It got worse and I developed diarrhea and sometimes I couldn’t sleep at night due to the stomach pains.

I went to the doctor several times but only was told that there unsure what I have and simple declared it as IBS. I was given several tablets but they never worked.
My immune system isn’t so good these past few months, Ive been ill with flu, tonsillitis and many colds – sore throats, coughs etc
Another problem is that I have is cramps. In my legs and mainly my feet. I struggle to exercises sometimes because of this. I often get foot cramp at awkward times and have to go to public loos etc to stretch my feet out. I suffer from not being bale to handle foot as well as I used to, flatulence is embarrassing and I don’t want to be kept awake at nights with this.
Ive tried the doctors but only get told that there unsure what’s wrong? Ive tried keeping a food diary but bad outbreaks are so random to make sense of. I seem to allways be ill every other week.

Id be veryg ratefull for any ideas or help! thank you.

Ok so I got the flu shot probably in October. yesterday morning I woke up with a low-grade fever (100.3), horrible sore throat, stuffy nose, chills, watery eyes, a little pain in my ears, and body aches. I’ve had these same symptoms now for 2 days. Today I went to the doctor and he did like nothing, just looked in my throat and ears. He said my throat didn’t look too bad. He said it is probably the flu but he did nothing about it. He also said that if I still have a fever in 4 days to come back and he will rethink it.
My throat is the worst… I’ve had strep before but it doesn’t hurt THAT bad, but then again, when I had it they said I had a REALLY bad case of it, so i don’t know… BUT when I’m not on Motrin it almost does hurt that bad.

I don’t have my tonsils, so its not tonsillitis or anything either.
What do I have and what should I do?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

So heres the situation and all the (sort of graphic…) details:
and sorry i dont know how to make some of this any less awkward…haha

so i didnt actually have sex with the guy, but some of his seamen got kind of close to my "area"

the night was sept 4 (and today is sept 27) so it hasnt been an actual month yet but i havent gotten my period since a few days before that night.

well just this past week i got tonsillitis (and i still have it but its getting better) and i heard that one of the symptoms for it is nausea. For the past 3-4 days i’ve been throwing up everyday at ruffly the same time (about 2pm)

i have not noticed my stomach getting and bigger or gaining and weight, but it has only been a month.

so is it possible im pregnant? is there any other way to tell other then a pregnancy test?

thanks for the help by the way!

I’ve always been prone to strep throat and tonsillitis (about once or twice a year) but I caught it again just a week or two after finishing my antibiotics for my last case. I’ve also discovered a lump in one of my breasts (I’ve already gone to the doctor for this and there’s little to no chance of it being breast cancer). I’ve also just gotten an itchy red rash on my chest, neck, and shoulders. There also seem to be some signs of a mild yeast infection and my arms and back are very sore. Is there an underlying cause for all these symptoms or should they all be treated separately?
The rash is not a result of the antibiotics because I’m on the same Amoxicillin that I’m normally put on. I do usually get a yeast infection after the antibiotics but normally within a few days as opposed for around a week and a half. The back and arm soreness is muscular.

Around Tuesday I started feeling ill. Warm cheeked, sore throat, slight cough. Nothing I couldn’t handle though. None of the symptoms were bad enough to keep me out of school, even though they did progressively get worse. I figured all I had was the cold and I’d be better in time for exams the upcoming week. Friday came and I was starting to feel better. The muffled feeling/pressure in my ears was going away finally, my throat wasn’t hurting so much and the cough drops were keeping my cough at bay, but then today came. The pain in my throat isn’t so bad today, but my cough has gotten deep and hoarse, like it’s coming from my chest. There’s a severe pressure in my ears and the top of my mouth/nasal area. I have to breathe through my nose at all times because if I try to breathe through my mouth it’s very labored and difficult. I feel as if my throat is closing in on me. It can’t be tonsillitis or anything like that because I’ve had my mother look in my throat a few days ago and she saw no swelling(she’s worked at a doctors office for going on twenty years). But that was a few days ago. I wasn’t feeling like this a few days ago. Also, there’s a skin colored sack on the right side of my mouth. I’m supposed to go in to get it checked on once the sore throat is gone but it doesn’t seem to be leaving any time soon.

What do you think is wrong with me? Should I see a doctor Monday? It’s exams week and I’m really trying to not miss any time in school.

Strep throat in 4 yr old symptoms not gone?

I had my 4 yr old at the doctor last friday after noticing a few little white spots on his tonsils on the thursday. He had been sick prior with a temp ranging from 37.5-38.7c and wednesday was throwing up. He complained of a sore stomach for the whole thursday and was still minor friday when I took him to the doc. She diagnosed him with tonsillitis and put him on a 10 day Abbocillin (penacillin V) to which he has taken religiously since friday 4 times a day. On sunday after the kids coming home from visitation w/ their nan he had been complaining of feeling sick once again all day sunday and I checked his throat when he came home and he still had the spots but also had these bubbles right on the back of his throat. I looked around on the net and saw similar photo’s of people with the same thing who had been diagnosed with Strep Throat. He is still of course on the antibiotic and paracetamol as well and nurofen to keep his temp at a normal range which is anywhere between 36.8-37.7. We’re now at day 5 and I have looked down his throat constantly to see if it is clearing up a little but the spots are still on his tonsils and the bubbles still at the back of his throat. I saw a pharmacist 2 days ago who told me to just see if it has gotten better by day 5 to which is hasn’t and to ring the doc then. The websites I have looked through have stated that 2-3 days after taking it the symptoms should start to go but whether that’s the fever and feeling sick and not the internal ones. And as he was not actually originally diagnosed with strep throat (however had the symptoms and the doctor stated to me that cos he’s only 4 he needs the meds cos it can go to his heart(with tonsillitis never heard that b4)) I don’t know whether to take him off to the doc and ask for a strep test of if it will clear up within the next 5 days?
Has anyone ever had this? Should I go and make an appt for a strep test or would of the penacillin have killed the bacteria already? I just can’t understand why the pus spots haven’t even gone what so ever.
He’s had silent tonsillitis before which led to bad asthma and an ear infection. Not once did the doc actually say that it could get to his heart which is making me wonder whether or not (and as a matter of fact the last bout he had they gave him amoxyl) the doc knew it was strep throat but then again I would hope if she knew it was she would actually say it. And from what I have read it’s not the same thing, tonsillitis is not contagious where as ST is.
