Tonsillitis Symptoms Archives

I think I might be getting tonsillitis. I have a little cold since Saturday and I’m getting a bad cough now. I have a sore throat, especially in the tonsil area and my tonsils hurt as well. I have trouble swallowing because the tonsils hurt too bad and when I talk as well. I also have an earache in both ears and get a headache every now and then. My mum said that if it continues today then we will go to the doctor tomorrow morning. I had Nurofen for children but that didn’t help with the earache, well it did but for about 4 minutes.

What are symptoms of tonsillitis ?

Soz if I spelt it wrong

symptoms of tonsillitis?

what are the symptoms of tonsillitis. I have difficulty swallowing and a very sore throat, do i have it?

I have been to the doctor, and she doesn’t know if I have glandular fever or tonsillitis. She is however treating me for tonsillitis, which she thinks is the most likely option. She has put me on strong antibiotics, pseudoephidrine, and nurofen.

I have these symptoms:
Extremely sore throat and Swollen glands in the throat
Puss on throat glands and flem on back of throat and some in chest
Very sore neck, and sore muscles all over my body
Some fatigue
Loss of appetite
Headaches
Blocked up nose, ears, sinus
Night sweats
fever

In my experience, these antibiotics or especially the other medications (because I have been taking them for longer) should have done something by now, but nothing is happening.

Is there anyway to tell if it if glandular fever or tonsillitis and can glandular fever be treated? How long should I take to rest?

Thanks

So a girl who has tonsillitis kisses (with tongues) a guy.

A few minutes later, I do the same (same guy).

What are the chances that I have tonsillitis and how long until symptoms occur if I do?

Thanks

Do I have tonsillitis?

Last Tuesday I woke up a cold…I had a sore throat, runny nose, chills, etc. Normal flu. Well, it slowly got better and by Friday/Saturday I felt pretty normal, just a little sore throat and every once in a while a flash of burning soreness like drainage or something was going down and it making it burn.
Well, Sunday I woke up and I was sick again. I felt generally sick, tired, etc.
Today…I have plenty of energy, even though I woke up early…I had a runny nose but then I got it cleared out…it only every once in a while is a little runny. But my throat is worse, I think today…it hurts…spasms a little bit when I swallow water…most of it goes down but it almost feels like there’s a little bit that doesn’t. I can swallow food fine…that actually makes it feel better. Coughing makes it feel better.
It doesn’t really fit tonsillitis symptoms but I don’t know what else it could be =/
any insights? I had a previously scheduled appointment with the family doctor tomorrow so I guess I’ll ask her about it too.

I plan to go to a clinic and take care of this, but before I do I wanted to explain this weird situation I’m in with an unconventional tonsil infection…

My left tonsil got majorly sore and swollen a few days ago, I’ll say about 4 days by now. The problem with diagnosing my swollen/infected tonsil as "tonsillitis" or "strep" is that I have slightly different symptoms then most, and I’m wondering what is wrong with me…

I have all the standard flu-like symptoms of tonsillitis: awful sleep hampered by fever/chills and body aches (weak, restless bones), ear ache (on that left side) and swollen glands on the left side of my neck, difficulty and pain swallowing and talking, however that is where the similarities stop…

Two major differences: my tonsil is not covered in any white coating or any sort of discoloration that would indicate strep or tonsillitis. It’s just very red and majorly inflamed. Everything I’ve found online indicates that if it’s tonsillitis, I should have a white coating, but I don’t… The other major difference is that the infected/swollen tonsil is absolutely riddled with tonsil stones, also known as tonsilloliths…

If you don’t know what tonsil stones are, they are these small, yellow calcified deposits that grow in the crypts and crevices of your tonsils from an accumulation of (typically) too much sugar or bacteria. I drink way too much soda, so it’s obvious I loaded my tonsil up with enough sugar to fill every crypt with tonsil stones… tonsil stones are not a normal symptom of tonsillitis, and frankly, they are one of the most common and ignored oral problems ever. Tonsil stones are what causes severe halitosis (bad breath) and they can be extremely uncomfortable, like pebbles or sand caught in there and it is not fun.

The most bizarre thing is that tonsil stones are supposed to be easily removed by use of an oral irrigator, which by some miracle I actually have one, and I can’t tell you how annoying it was when I found out that it didn’t work for me. The infection has swollen the tonsil so much and loaded it up with so many tonsil stones and thick mucus to hold them in place, that the water pressure of the oral irrigator isn’t enough to free/clear the stones out of my tonsil. I’m wondering why.

In addition to the swollen gland in my neck (same side) which looked like a small walnut bulging from my neck, over the course of the last 24 hours it has spread upwards (the inflamation under the jaw) up another inch to just under my jaw’s hinge… I’m really freaked out.

I don’t know if this is even tonsillitis, and if it is, if it’s viral or bacterial. Please help!
I should also add that I have never had tonsillitis before, maybe once when I was a kid but it quickly passed. Nothing like this. Never a bulging swollen gland in my neck… also the tonsil itself is about double to almost triple its normal size, if that helps. Thanks to anyone who can help…

Tonsillitis Symptoms?

Since December, I’ve had tonsillitis and it all started out with mucus getting caught up in my throat, and my tonsils been swollen since. But now it seems to be getting worse. I’ve been googling symptoms for it I came across some familiar symptoms, sometimes the internet can be wrong. I want to know can any of these occur while tonsillitis is present. High body temperature, I’m always sweating a little bit and my body is constantly feeling warm, sometimes I just feel like this big wind of hot air shoots through my body. Of course sore throat is a main symptom. July 6th I my doctor diagnosed me with pharyngitis. Is pharyngitis a result of swollen tonsils? I have an appointment next week for them to check them out and they will give me something for them until my next appointment. That appointment will be the day of tonsillectomy. Thanks!
