I have enlarged tonsils and have had since I was about 8. They used to look "meaty" and irritated even though they wouldn’t even be sore. They just look large with a bunch of holes now. I get those tonsil stones every once in awhile. I hate my tonsils, it is hard to swallow and they make me snore really bad, which is so embarrassing because I am about to get married. I don’t want to be snoring! My mom told me she heard me snoring all the way from down the hall the other morning when I had a cold. Is getting my tonsils removed the only way out. Are there any other procedures that do not involve surgery. Every time I have asked a doctor they just kind of shoo the issue and act clueless. I had to google everything to get answers. Thanks for the advice.
they don’t really bother me it is just so embarrasing that they make me snore. I have tried tons of snore stuff and the only thing that works is to lay on my stomach.

I just had tonsil surgery and I’m taking morphine for the pain but I’m not sure it is managing my pain the way it is suppose to. So I’m wondering if there is another painkiller that would more effective. Does morphine work better on some people then it does on others and vice versa with Percocet even though they are derived from the same source.

i had my tonsils removed today and i feel pretty good except for the intense throat pain. the main problem is, it is very swolen and i am afraid it might seal since the walls are so close. Also i am not sure what to do to sleep better because of that fact. i can’t barely breath through my mouth or my left nostril, which also had surgery inside today. i am putting ice ouside my throat and eating ice also. what else can i do?please help. thank you:)

I plan on getting my tonsils removed in about 1 month and I have a few questions.
1. How nauseous will you be? I honestly can’t stand throwing up, but is it a normal part of healing?
2. Will your jaw hurt? When I got my wisdom teeth taken out, it was hard for me to open and close my mouth and was sore for about a week. Will this happen?
3. What your your experience with food? Did you eat just pudding for a week?
4. When your throat was healing, did you cough up bloody scabs? Did the removal site bleed after you went home? How long did it take to fully heal?

the child (4.5 yrs) suffered from sleep apnea as a result of the enlarged adenoid and his social development (esp. peer relationships) seemed to be delayed. his adenoid and tonsils were removed in a surgery so the sleep apnea seems to have been corrected. when can we expect that he catch up in his social development?
