should I get my tonsils removed? could it make me more athletic?
I am 23; the doctor I last saw suggested that at my age I would be at high risk for bleeding, so they would not recommend it.
I have always had big tonsils, and never thought much of it.
Over the past years I have put on weight, a lot of weight; I am currently 322 6"2′.
I had tonsillitis a few weeks ago…and I think I have it again.
My girlfriend tells me I am a heavy snorer.
Needless to say it has been harder to breath as of lately.
With this pace I would fit the recommendation for getting them removed: 3 cases of tonsillitis a year….I might even fit that requirement in a matter of months.
My tonsils are literally touching my uvula; I never pay much attention, but I am pretty sure they are close to my uvula even when not swollen.
I used to play football in high school, so I would run and lift a lot; out of curiosity I wonder if anyone would know if getting your tonsils removed will make you more athletic.
it stands to reason, if you breath more you can run longer and faster; Also breathing more would mean more oxygen for you muscles.
I doubt I will shave a few minutes off my mile time or add 50 lbs to my bench press immediately after getting them removed, but it stands to reason that it would improve them at least over time.
It should be mentioned, that I am unemployed, have no health insurance, and no disposable income; tonsil removal averages 00; does anyone know where I could get it free?
I would appreciate health care officials to answer these questions, or at least someone going through the same thing.
