I had a Papilloma removed from my uvula in between my tonsils, along with a Tonsillectomy on the 12th november 09′. (yesterday) because the uvula bled alot, they cortorized it and its very swollen, bieng technical probably a perimiter of about 3 cm, that probably doesnt help because my maths is appaling- anyway its very swollen- how long will it take for the swelling to decrease? (if you need to know im a 14 year old girl :L ) lol

Here are the details
In July 2007 I had my Gall Bladder removed. I weight between 180 and 200 lbs
In Jan. 2008 I had my tonsils removed
I started gaining weight steadily from here on out.
In April 2008 I saw my doctor and was "diagnosed" with depression. Was told that the weight gain was caused by the depression.
I started talking Generic Wellbutrin
In May 2008 I saw a gyno since I have only had one natural period, and the rest were forced by birthcontrol.
She put me on Metformin for insulin resistance, and probable PCOS
In about 2 years I have put on more the 100lbs.
My diet hasnt changed, and I still have the same amount of activity. I eat healthy.
I stopped taking the Metformin because it makes me severily ill and I didnt have insurance to go back for refills and check ups.
I recently got my insurance back, and I have an appointment to get checked, but I need some outside help for weight loss and ideas to try. I would like to try diet pills? or herbal supplements. Help please.

Ive been a professional singer for over 10 years now. I just had both my tonsils and adenoids removed. Im at the point where i no longer feel discomfort and Im pretty sure it has healed up…. but singing is so difficult now! Im horrified evrything I have studied and practiced and worked for my whole life is going to be for nothing! Please tell me that I’ll go back to normal. It feels like I have no control. Anyone have experience with this where they thought it was gone forever and then it came back and everything was ok?

Ok so I am probably just being paranoid, and I have heard so many different stories from different people and this dry socket story freaks the living crap out of me. Scenario: I had 4 wisdom teeth removed 6 days ago, the doctor said they were stubborn and it was a touch job, I also had a lot of bleeding so they put a tube down my throat. 6 days later my throat is much much better and I dont flinch every time I swallow anymore, but I know this may sound wierd, but I can still feel my tonsils on the back of my tongue. Is this just because it is still swollen?
Last night I was in absolute exruciating agony (maybe a bit exaggerrated) and this morning I had no pain at all, except a bit of swelling and a wierd taste. I am trying to not take too many painkillers as I cant eat properly so they were just making me feel really sick. I am worried about dry socket, what are the symptoms and will I know if I have it? I dont have a very high pain threshold and was very close to going into hospital last night and telling them about my pain I had, but strangely it was gone this morning. Are there any alternatives to painkillers? Please dont say ice packs (I have no freezer), so I have made do with cold towels. I am rinsing 4/5 times a day with salt water and once in the evening and morning with a mouth wash they gave me.
Is it normal to feel wierd and fainty 6 days after the surgery due to the painkillers? It is such a strange feeling I am petrified i wont wake up again. Ok, so there are a lot of questions in this post so any help would be much obliged, especially from people who have had 4 wisdom teeth removed in the past….
Thanks everyone

I am a 20yr old female. From the time I was little i always got strep throat very frequently. I almost failed high school because i was getting strep every 4 weeks with 104 fever. pediatrician never wanted them removed (dumbass). well they got so infected i ended up in the hospital with mono and strep and my throat closed up , they almost had to trach me. so a few weeks after that i got my tonsils removed.. that was a year ago, i now have only gotten strep like 3 times!! yayyyy. But now instead of getting strep all the time i now get ear infections a lot with very bad sore throat. Why didnt they remove my adnoids? would getting them removed fix the ear infections?
im a vegetarian, i dont eat breads or man made food. i eat a variety of beans, grains, veggies, fruit, and go to the gym.

My daughters doctor is putting tubes in her ears, and also removing her adnoids. Do adnoids really help in the case of ear infections? How are adnoids different then tonsils?

I heard a friend got her tonsils removed yesterday and her appendix is being taken out today. It nearly burst (but far as I know didn’t). I don’t know what form of surgery she’s getting (the one with small incisions or the one large one) but could anyone tell me how long she’ll have to stay at the hospital, and how long it will be after that until she will be able to care for herself again.
I know recovery time varies on which form she got, so please list it for both if you know. I can’t seem to find the answer online.
Oh, and she’s only in her early 20s and at least pretty healthy.
