Tonsil Removal Archives
Septopasty Surgery. Has anyone ever just had their deviated septum and no other related surgeries?
I had surgery on my nose about 3 months ago. I feel really congested still in my nose. It feels so horrible. Im wondering just because I had just the surgery for a deviated septum, no turbine reduction or removal of tonsils/adenoids. How long should I feel congested? ENT specialist said the surgery went well but i still feel like shit! How long before this clears up. Is there anyway i can make it better.
Tonsil Scar Tissue?
When I open and say Ah, I see a white stripe in tonsil crypt – it seems to flatten out and spread somewhat when I flex my "ah" muscle less – tonsils removed 30 yrs ago-I read something on a dental site indicating that this is scar tissue from removal of the pallantine tonsils? Anyone know?!
Which of these surgical removals of healthy tissues makes sense?
Removal of a baby’s toenails to prevent fungal infections.
Extraction of healthy teeth to prevent caries.
Removal of a healthy appendix to prevent appendicitis.
Removal of healthy tonsils to avoid tonsillitis.
Mastectomy of healthy breasts to prevent breast cancer.
Circumcision of a baby’s healthy foreskin to prevent penile infections.
TO ME, they all have the same false logic. What do you think?
Has anyone ever heard of someone having two extra tonsils hanging on the back of their tongue?
I had my tonsils removed today and the doctor said that I still have two left hanging from the back of my tongue that he decided to leave? I thought the removal of tonsils prevented strep throat and now I am still going to be susceptible if these work as normal tonsils. Right? This is weird and I would love some answers. Help! -Kayla
What does ice cream and tonsils have to do with each other?
I hear after getting a tonsillectomy (removal of the tonsils) that "you get to have all the ice cream you can eat".
Is it just a saying for kids, or does it truly have a meaning to that?
I keep getting tonsil stones… do I need my tonsils removed?
Hi all. I am a 20 year old male (21 in 2 weeks) and for the past 6 months of my life I have become extremely frustrated with these tonsil stones I am getting, or what I now know to be called tonsilloliths. I get them pretty much every 2 or 3 days over the last 6 months in the exact same tonsil (my right one) and in the exact same place. They are also always the exact same size.
They are basically small balls (about 2/3 the size of a pea) and the foulest smelling things I have smelt in my life. They make my breath smell absolutely disgusting to the extent I cant look at people or half to cover my mouth when i speak. I squeeze them out every 2 or 3 days with a cotton bud but they just keep coming back.
These tonsil stones do not affect my health or make me feel unwell, but do you think it warrants the removal of my tonsils. I’m just after an outsiders opinion.
Thanks.
one tonsil has been permanently swollen for years
i used to get tonsillitis and strep throat compounded (at the same time) 3-5 times a year for about 10 years. (teens-twenties). i am now 27 and my left tonsil has been swollen to the point of resting against my uvula for at least a few years. (i simply can’t remember the last time it wasn’t) i am in no pain, and have adopted and incredibly healthy lifestyle over the last few years. the only thing which is affected as far as i can tell is only being able to swallow half the amount of food or liquid as a normal person at any time. i haven’t been afflicted with strep or tonsillitis for about 2 1/2 years. is this something i should be concerned about? is removal the only option?
