Tonsil Removal Archives

Hey im 16 and just bought a water pick. I bought the water pick because I have gross tonsil stones and I was trying to remove them, I managed to remove everything but after my left tonsil started to bleed alot. I think the water irritated it… But what will happen!?

I have to go in for the operation on the 28th and have to stay overnight. If all goes well they let me out in the morning. I’m 16 years old and I really don’t feel like missing out on New Years but how well will I be at that time? How long does it usually take to recover? Will I be in complete agony or will it just be a slight sore throat? What are your experiences? Thanks a lot!

Tonsil removal vs Mononucleosis?

So me and my sister were having a discussion about the illness we have had over the past year, and a very argumentative subject came up of which was more painful, uncomfortable, just all round worse than the other. We talked about it i said it seems like they are tied and she said no having my tonsils removed was blah blah than u getting mono…just for the record i didn’t have a mild case of mono i had a pretty bad case of it. So i want ur guys/girls opinion which do u think is worse tonsil removal or mononucleosis?

recovery time from tonsil removal?

How would removing tonsils mess up your taste buds?

The other day I heard my cousin telling her friend about her coworker. The man had his tonsils removed, but the procedure somehow messed up his taste buds to the point where everything he eats tastes like crap. As a result, he only eats liquid food and has lost a lot weight since then. Now he is suing the hospital for this mishap.

Does anyone know exactly how this could happen? How can tonsil removal change the way you taste your food? Could this be fixed somehow? Why or why not?

(I apologize if this is in the wrong category)

how often is your kid(s) sick?

I feel like my son is sick way too much.
I know for a fact he’s sick way too much!
He always has a cold, flu, pnemonia, pink eye, or somethin.. it’s sad.

He’s two and a half- and he’s had pink eye 5 times, pnemonia twice, croupe, he throws up at least once a month and seems to constantly have a wet cough.. last week he had strep throat and an ear infection. Tonight he threw up.

We’ve had him tested for various things, Cystic Fibrosis, etc to find the underlying cause of his constant illnesses with no avail. He seems perfectly normal, other then he’s totally weak in the immunity department.

He goes to daycare, but I find it irrelevant because he only started a couple months ago & he’s been sick like this his whole life. Plus the daycare said they were concerned because his misses so much school (more then anyone). I know the other kids can be carriers, but why’s he so weak?

they are considering removal of tonsils. Similar stories appreciated.

Question about tonsils and adenoids?

I am 16 and have always had large tonsils. I know have been suffering from chronic sinusitis for about 6 months and nothing will cure it. I am going to a ENT tomorrow and was wondering, what are the chances he will suggest removal of the tonsils and adenoids. I have difficulty swallowing and I must clear my throat a lot because of my tonsils. My tonsils also scrape the back of my throat a lot. I cannot turn my head to the right because the gland is swollen and hurts when I do. I would like him to take out my tonsils and adenoids because they cause me so many problems but will he take my request seriously? I’m scared he’ll just shoot me down and think I’m being ridiculous.
I also breath loudly and have all my life. My doctor always says I have large tonsils, all doctors and nurses do when I get a throat culture but she has never mentioned a tonsillectomy. After taking a bout 7 antibiotics she referred me to ENT. I had a sinus infection last january that I was put on allergy meds for that don’t help so I’m suspecting I’ve had sinus problems since last year.
