tonsil removal and breathing tube?

I’m getting my tonsils out soon becasue I have those white smelly balls inside them all the time. I have a huge phobia of vomiting, so I wanted to get some information about the breathing tube and when you come out of the surgery. When you wake up is the tube still there or is it gone by then. Also do you feel nausua when you wake up, do you throw up? And if you do doesn’t that make the throat hurt more. I am 18 years old so I don’t know if the recovery time is longer becasue I’m not really young like 5. Someone please let me know, if your a doctor or you have been through this procedure. thank you so much!

My daughter is just turning 3 in May. She had a set of eartube a year and a half ago, but they fell out. Now she is having a lot of ear infections again and water in both ears for about 4 months now.
Also her tonsils are almost touching each other and has problems breathing with nose. She is snoring when she is awake or sleeping.
We saw her ENT today, and she told us that she needs to have her tonsils and adenoinds out and a new set of ear tube.
I am so afraid of the surgery and recovery. Can anyone give me an advice on the surgery or recovery?

Scared about tonsil removal?

Since I was a kid, the doctors have been telling me that I have the biggest tonsils they had ever seen. Now, my tonsils are so pitted that I get sick more and more often. Mum took me into the doctors years back to see what we should do and they told me they wouldnt bother taking them out because they would just eat themselves away. Now, I’m 19 years old and my tonsils are so big, they keep me from eating a lot of foods and they need to come out. I have had only one serious surgery done to me when I was a baby so I don’t remember what it was like. I’ll admit it now that I’m really scared about this. I don’t have any idea how they will do it but does someone have any information on the process? For example, do they put me to sleep then operate or will I be awake the entire time? Please help.

Adenoids/Tonsil Removal?

I’ve had this very nasally voice for about 5 years, Everytime I would meet someone new , about 5 minutes into me talking to them they would say, "Why do you talk like that? Nasally like."
I never knew what they were talking about/didnt care until I took a video of myself talking, and its like I hear myself talking WAY different as I talk, but on camera its just unbelievable how I sound, its totally different. Im getting my tonsils/adenoids taken out in 2 weeks. My tonsils are large, and I have no clue about my adenoids.

Im 15 years old.

Down to the question, Will getting my adenoids/tonsils removed and reduce the nasallyness?

Hi, I am on the way in about an hour for my daughter having her tonsils and adnoids out, I have been through this before with my older daughter however she only had tonsils out. Anyone have any tips or experiences with the tonsils and adnoids being taken out?

hey all, i got my tonsils out today. and yes it does hurt. (i got my tonsils and andniods taken out as well) it wasn’t hard at all. and the procedure was nothing either. when i woke up, it took about 10 minutes before i was fully alert and i actually got dressed and ready to go. drank an apple juice and walked out, well it was more like i stumbled out because i was hella doped up lol. but now they have me on hydrocodone/APAP 7.5 MG/ 750 MG. which means the stuff i take for pain is a bit higher then a viocodin. and it has Tylenol and codine in it for cough suppressant. your throat will be raw, and it will bleed from time to time, but the more you drink the better you feel. trust me, ive been gulping down water like crazy and yea, it sorta hurts.. but after about two or three gulps you wont feel it much at all. letting your throat get real dry is something you don’t want to do, because it hurts like a major Bi**h.. make yourself pudding and jello. i recommended buying chocolate, vanilla, and rice pudding. not only is it fun to make and preoccupies you. but in about 30 minutes you can have something yummy to eat. your throat will scab up and it is a bit annoying i will admit.. but DO NOT TRY AND CLEAR YOUR THROAT LIKE I DID.. it hurts alot.. despite that you cant talk and stuff. but its not that big of a deal. all in all, even though i had my tonsils taken out 2 days ago. this is nothing for a procedure. i read online about everyone saying its sooooo painful.. don’t listen to them they are being overly dramatic about it. thats why i wanted to write this before i went to bed. so that all you people out there who read up on tonsils and see all the stupid people saying its painful. i can tell you its not. on a pain scale, i give it about a 6 when my throat is dry, and about a 4.5-5 when they are wet. and that’s out of 10.

so dont let your tonsil and adenoid surgery discourage you with all the stupid people who say its horrible. its really not.

good luck to anyone who gets theirs removed, and remember, jello, pudding, and Popsicles!
well to answer your question, this is my first actual day that Ive had them out. and when i woke up they didn’t hurt that bad at all. it will take about 10 days for to be all healed up. on the 8th or 9th day i plan on trying bread and some other goodies cause i miss them. lol
but i also forgot to add, that if you take minute rice and vanilla pudding to make rice pudding, you will have more energy and have more protein then just jello and pudding which is all sugar.

so about 10 days max, and that’s with adenoids and tonsils. im pretty sure its the same for tonsils as well.

tell your friend good luck to her, ill try and keep everyone posted so that when people see the finished version of this informative question they can be reassured and not listen to the stupid over dramatic people on the internet.

I am having this surgery next week. Long story short I am trying to do everything in my power to not succumb to the weight loss associated with this procedure. Does anybody know any foods that will at least help me to maintain to my weight? Can I take protein shakes? Will they help? If so, which is a good one to use?

Any other foods that could help me with this would be great. Thanks for your help?
