Repetitive Tonsil Infections!? Please Help!?

Im 18, and as far back as i can rememer, even as young as 8 years old, ive been plagued with throat infections. Maily my tonsils which become red and inflamed, sore, and also lumpy, sometimes white spots appear, sometimes not…. but regardless of what the type of infection, tonsilitis, strep throat, pus pockets… etc… i end up with a sore and infected throat at least 6 times a year. the doctors seem stumped. any help? thank you
oh, also, i do keep up on my oral hygeine. i dont think that has anything to do with it.

1st time I get this infection, and I believe its acute, only on the right tonsil, minimum swelling, minimum pain, more of a bother really, I can wait it out right? (I’ve had it for about day so far…)

I get this white thing on my tonsil and when i get it out it smells really bad and leaves a hole. I dont know if i should just not worry about it because i went to the doctor and he was just like whatever. But it hurts really bad and it comes back every week. And right before i get it i have like a day that i feel like i have a sinus infection. I dont know what is going on but i’d really like to know.

I shake one cold off and take another, the 1st week of July I had bronchitis and lost voice blew nose constantly.I let nature take it away and then started to feel for a week, to wake today with one tonsil red and white spots classic infection again. I have had ent specialist check me and when i said every 6 weeks or so I have tonsil infection, my dr referred me, ENT dr says I dont meet Scottish executive measures for tonsillectomy and have to just take antibiotics.

This is such a pain in butt, I have always got penicillin tablets in my medicine cabinet and start taking them soon I get usual symptoms, now I wonder why do I take these viruses and tonsil infections when no one else seems to have it! I am hygienic and have nice clean teeth and so on, I gargle with mouthwash once a day as well.

I dont smoke, nor have asthma , no one around me does either, I dont have pets, get fresh air a lot, eat a healthy diet

This has been ongoing for 20yr! on and off *sighs* relentless

well I guess I am just susceptible when i was at ENT she took blood test to rule out glandular fever, which can mimic tonsillitis.

I had a full blood check done about 6 mth before this, as I am always tired, at my dr as I seldom go for any other reason except tonsils being infected!! I dont like to visit drs. wish there was an alternative to antibiotic drugs. thought maybe my thyroid wa sunder active, but they said its fine

I am rh negative and have type B blood wonder if this means I am weak?

My children dont seem to suffer tonsil infections ! no one else seems to have this in my family. Strong as oxes my nan lived to be almost 90 and was only in hospital the day she died, and the once in 1953 to give birth to her last child and spent all her adult life never ill for example. My dads mum /my gran had diabates but lived to a good age.
Strange Tonsil fact!

the ENT specialist explained that as well as a lot of bleeding, they are reluctant to remove tonsils in adults, in all but emergency cases, human tonsil glands contain an infective agent that causes variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (vCJD or "human mad-cow disease"). But vCJD is not a cause of tonsillitis.

Researchers at Imperial College and St Mary’s Hospital, London, found that in every case where the infectious agent, called a prion protein, could be detected in tonsil tissue removed during tonsillectomy, the person went on to develop the disease.

This finding led to the development of a new test for vCJD, which, fortunately, is still very rare.

The research also led to fears that vCJD could be transmitted through surgical instruments used for tonsillectomies.

Hospitals have updated their sterilisation equipment and, now will only perform all tonsillectomies with disposable instruments.

I had my upper left wisdom extracted 8 days ago. The past few days I have felt like something is in my throat, on the side of my throat that is the same side I had the wisdom tooth pulled. It’s not sore, but I feel something there and it’s very annoying. I looked in my throat with a flashlight and saw a white patch on the same side of the wisdom tooth I had extracted. I went to the oral surgeon for a recheck to see how I am healing and showed it to him, and he said it was just something in the crevice of my tonsil and was not related to my wisdom tooth extraction (although it seems like a weird coincidence to me that I’ve never had this before and that it’s on the same side of the wisdom tooth.) Anyway, he gave me a syringe and I said I could try to irrigate it out myself, but if not it would go away on it’s own. Will it go away by itself if I leave it alone? Also, how can I be sure that’s what it really is and not a throat infection? I am starting to freak out and get nervous.
Thanks!

The top part of my left tonsil this morning was crazy red and irritated with kinda yellowish spots/film on it. it s not that chunky crap (calcium deposits) that can happen, it was almost like a mucus or something but not a whole lot. Anyways, i used a Qtip and kinda wiped off the crap…several hours later i realized my tonsil now is deffinatley painful, super red, and it looks almost like the lining of my tonsil i broke??? no blood or anything, but all i could think of was like a sac surrounding my tonsil that tore. does that make sense to anyone?

I have had some off and on itching in my ears, but i just pop a bunch of Vit C and it subsides. Do i have some crazy cold or is this something much more concerning??

It looks like the skin has ripped off, i don’t know how to explain what it is but I’m sure a lot of you have experienced it before.

Any explanations/suggestions/medicines or cures?

Thanks alot.

I had strepp throat every year when I was a child and my tonsils became very infected. So eventually I had a tonsilectamy. After the surgery, my mother told me that my tonsils "crumbled in the doctor’s hand," and that if I hadn’t had the procedure sooner, it would have been dangerous for me.

Years later, affter going through therapy, I’ve realized that my parents "exaggerated the truth" a lot, to put it mildly.

I’m no doctor, but I find this scenario difficult to believe. I appreciate all the insight I can get. Is it possible for one’s tonsil’s to just "cumble" before one’s eyes? I doubt many people have answers to this, but if you do, I’m all ears. Thanks!
