tonsil stones are actually "harmless" meaning they don't cause any real health problems but they are very annoying and bothersome.

for most people tonsil stones usually fall out as they are eating or sleeping and they swallow it with out even realizing it.
for other people the they don't come out very easily and you can use your fingers to try to get them out.

the only permanent cure for tonsil stones is a tonsillectomy.
