YES its an extremely good reason to get your tonsils out.
get an appointment with an ENT (ear, nose, and throat dr) to discuss having a tonsillectomy.

you will probably need to get a referral to an ent (ear nose and throat specialist) - he is the one that will actually do the tonsillectomy if that is the road you choose to take.
if the stones are that much of a concern for you and you spend a lot of time poking at your tonsils trying to get out the tonsil stones or it constantly feels like you have something stuck in the back of your throat i would definitely recommend seeing about getting your tonsils out.
i'm 21 years old and had my tonsils removed 20 days ago due to terrible tonsil stones (found out afterwards that my tonsils were actually huge - almost 3 times the size of normal tonsils and they were very inflammed according to the pathology report so it was worth it in the end for health reasons as well). i can tell you that the first 7-10 days after surgery are HELL and you are going to wish you had never done the surgery but now i feel so much better and i will never have to worry about those annoying, bad smelling, time consuming stones, swelling of my tonsils, etc. I would do the surgery over again a million times if i had to in order to get these results.
Good luck!!! talk to your doctor about it and get that referral asap! you'll be glad you did :)
