Are there any home remedies for tonsillitis?

My husband has it,and is on a high dose of antibiotics for the next ten days. I was just wondering if there was anything else that may help,or at least ease his symptoms?

I am dealing with this right now! This is what I am doing and I can see a difference. My little girl is four her tonsils are so big the blood vessels are huge. I made a spray out of horehound leaf that I have I boiled it added water and put it in a spray bottle and I spray it. I also am using Germ Zapper that is for cold/flu, viruses.Olive leaf spray . My daughter has just had it – not much except for the antibiotics I’m afraid and some soft gargling with a bit of tcp or salt.
My son recently had tonsillitis (though it was viral so he didn’t get antibiotics). We went to the doctors who sent us straight to hospital as he had a temp over 104 and was covered in a viral rash and no idea what it was. They sent us home with this: http://www.multipharmacy.com/shop/customer/Difflam-Sore-Throat-Spray-pid-7945.html which apparently has a numbing effect on his throat so he could eat/drink more comfortably.
Other than the throat spray (actually, for an adult anesthetic lozenges would do the same job).. if you’re looking for a more natural home remedy, the best I can think of is honey and lemon. That always works for me.

Poor guy. I just keep the patient on fruitsicles, disney movies and analgesics. If he’s not feeling better in a couple of days, call the dr. back. He may need to try a different med.
I just hope the rest of the family doesn’t catch it!
