Hi, im I am 16 and I have had tonsil stones since i was 12. Normally I am able to get the tonsil stones out myself, but a few months ago i decided to stop torturing my tonsils(by removing the stones with my fingernail) and I just tried to live a normal life. However, now for some reason, I can hardly swallow solid food..I am wondering if this is due to a buildup of tonsil stones in my throat even if I cant see the stones? also have any of you even had a tonsillectomy due to tonsil stones? does it work? (i know it hurts..Ive read all about that:(…anyways any help or info would be greatly apprectiated. thank you

My boyfriend’s one tonsil looks to be hanging by just a thing thread of tissue in his throat. I’ve asked him to talk to a doctor, and he’s a little against it. I’m rather worried about what it could be. I’ve tried finding pictures to describe what it looks like, to see if I can talk him into an appointment, but no such luck. All I tend to find would be pictures of tonsil stones and other tonsil infections that involve being swollen or having white splotches. If anyone knows what this might be, please, please link me to information about it asap. I need as much persuasion as possible to get him to go to a doctor.
He does have a sore throat, coughing, sneezing, and if he talks he loses his voice until he stops talking for a while – and the family doctor said he has the flu along with a sinus infection, but didn’t do any tests to determine this. The same went for my brother, mother, and father. They saw the same doctor. While I went to my own doctor and got a nose culture/swab to test for the flu and that turned up negative. We all have the same symptoms, however. I was told I probably just have a flu-like virus. The thing in his throat is pink, and I’m sure it’s his tonsil. I’ve dealt with my own towards sinus infections, mono, etc. to know what they look like and what is or isn’t a tonsil.
Oh, he also has a fever, some nausea, and a bad headache. I’m thinking e.r. as well, people.
I hate to keep adding things, but I keep remembering something else I forgot to put. Another thing as to why it’s confusing is I keep finding things to deal with SWOLLEN tonsils, but his look to be shrunken.

my ent doctor suggested that i have my tonsils removed. my tonsils r big, kinda blocks my throat, gets infected often and it hurts a lot during that. doctor said, medicines will take care of the infection but to reduce the size operation is the only way. i also have a little trouble breathing while sleeping which will also go away after this operation, says he.
i have heard about various side effects of this tonsil operation, such as- height didnt increase after the operation, and singing voice got ruined, etc.
does it really have an effect on height increase? thats not my big concern though becaue i’m 22, i dont think my height is going to increase naturally any more…
My BIGGEST concern is my voice, i LOVE music, i LOVE singing and i take singing lessons. is there ANY chance that my voice would get screwd up after this operation? what possible effects can it have on my voice? this is really scaring me.
please leave helpful answers and anything u know on this topic, thank you.

So I’ve read a lot of ways to deal with tonsil stones. Here’s my issue:
I get the ones that are easily coaxed off by a q-tip or gargling on my right tonsil. My left, however, looks nothing like my right. It’s very lumpy and I see little white parts of the tonsil stones peeking out from behind the swollen tonsil.
I’m NOT going to try and push them or dig them out. I’d rather not bleed everywhere and give my throat a chance for a worser sort of infection.
I’m NOT going to get surgery to have them removed.
What I want to know…is that for anyone with tonsil stones that deep inside to where you can just see tiny peeks of them: do water picks work for those?
My doctors (ENT and general) are irritatingly stupid sometimes (they even admit these things to me in their office when explaining how they don’t know what to do). So, I’d appreciate your answer on this that isn’t "go to the doctor."
Thank you g
What I DO already so is brush my teeth twice a day, floss often, don’t eat an hour before bed and gargle with warm salt water before I go to sleep every night. I have been doing this for months now and the lumps on my left tonsil have still not gone away.

I’m not 100% positive I have tonsillitis, but I have a very sore throat that makes it painfully hard to swallow, my neck is stiff, I have a persistent headache, bad breath, achey all over, stomach pain, nausea, a fever that comes and goes (100-101), basically all of the symptoms i read about on the Internet.) My mom has given me Advil, but that takes 30 minutes to kick in and it lasts only for about 30 minutes, and then i have to wait another 5 and a half hours to take some more. Problem is, I can’t visit or call my pediatrician, (yes I am 12) bc I’m visiting family for New years and we are up In the mountains in the middle of nowhere!! I am miserable! what can I do! help please!!!
I haven’t been able to sleep well in days. This has been going on for 3 days and has only gotten worse!

i often get tonsil infections. and I’ve been postponing removing my tonsils for 5 years.
next year, I’ll be 21 y/o.
I’m planning to get them removed during the summer vacation.
to be honest, I’m a coward.
I’m scared to go into surgery because i don’t know what to expect.
so if someone can share his/her experience it would be very helpful.
