My husband has to get his tonsils out next week… the dr. told him that this will stop snoring and prevent throat cancer. People should not have their tonsils in after 50…. has anyone else heard this?

I’m curious if I have the same symptoms as tonsillitis; I can’t get in to see my doctor until next week.

I woke up yesterday with the right side of my throat swollen, raw, and very tender to the touch. I’m having trouble swallowing on the right side, though the left side feels perfectly fine. I don’t have any other sickness like the flu or a cold and I’m not running a fever; it just really hurts.

If you’ve had tonsillitis, were these the sort of symptoms that you experienced?

Oh, I am fairly certain that it isn’t strep. I’ve had strep throat several times and this feels nothing like that.

JUST AN UPDATE. I HAVE SEEN THE SPECIALIST AND HE SAID MY TONSILS DEFINITELY NEED TO COME OUT.MY TONSILS ARE VERY LARGE WITH LARGE CIRCULAR HOLES.I AM LEARNING NOW TO PUSH THEM OUT HOWEVER I HAVE HAD 3 DESPERATE SEPTIC THROAT INFECTIONS AND HAD TO TAKE TIME OFF WORK.THE DENTIST STATED THAT THERE IS NOTHING HE CAN DO AS MY TEETH ARE PERFECT AND HE CAN’T DO ANYTHING FOR ME.IM NOW WAITING TO GO IN FOR MY OPERATION.I GET THESE TONSIL STONES EVERY DAY AND JUST PRAY THAT WHEN TONSILS ARE REMOVED THAT I HONESTLY GET A NEW QUALITY OF LIFE AND CAN TALK TO PEOPLE IN COMFORT.

my son is 18 months when he was born never had any problems with him being sick never a cold or anything when he was 6 months old me and my bf moved into a house with his sister since then my son has been sick a lot loads of colds and many ear infections nothing to serious but i was worried he got rubella and croup cough then he had a cough for months after his first birthday no one could tell me what was wrong with my son..i finally took him to a ear nose and throat specialist and they want to put tubes in his ears and take out his tonsils and adenoids i have 2 people in my family who has had theirs taken out and they say they have upper respiratory infections a lot and everyone is worried how little he is i’m worried about that they say i should wait til hes older i don’t think i have any problems with him as far as his tonsils go but i’m not sure if this is the start to something worse anyone have the same thing happen

So I have a tonsil stone on my tonsil(obviously) and its been there for the whole day being freakishly annoying. It makes me want to brush my teeth every five minutes. Ugh. Anyway, is there any way I can get rid of it? Gargling salt water doesn’t work.

does it hurt? will they put me to sleep during surgery????????????

I have them (self diagnised) what should I do? can they be cured od am I stuck with them forever?

Naturally i will consult a doctor, but i was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience! I’ve had this sore throat for the past 5 days, it’s not hurting as much as it was, but it came completely randomly, without most flu symptoms such as a cough or runny nose, but the lymph nodes in my neck are swollen and hurt to the touch, and in the week i was experiencing body aches, chills and nausea. Could it be tonsillitis?

I’ve been like this for months and months now. I have tried everything from going to the doctor to over the counter meds to get rid of this and nothing happens. Please help!!

what are they, are they dangerous and how do you get rid of them (does it hurt?)
