I’m going to get my tonsils removed because of frequent tonsil stones. I’m 17 years old, and in an honors program in college so I can’t afford to take time off!
Is it realistic to go back to school a few days after getting them removed?

My doctor said I had tonsil stones but she said it’s no big deal, etc. While I think a tonsillectomy would be worse than the original ailment, I would like the problem to clear up. Any helpful suggestions?
Note to Dr. Knowitall:
Are you referring to over-the-counter nose drops/nasal sprays, or prescripiton meds? What are the names of these meds?

Was mostly curious as to what causes tonsil infections. I’ve seen infections but never thought about what causes that to happen, til now.

I have suffered from tonsil stones for a number of years now but have never went to the doctor about it. I was wondering, if anyone else suffers from them?
If you dont know what they are, they are yellow-white lumps that form in your tonsils and can cause bad breath. It also feels like a foreign object is lodged at the back of the throat.
I was wondering if there is anything the doctor can actually do for tonsil stones? I have one in my throat just now and I can see it. Several websites have suggested using a cotton bud to dislodge it but i tried it and i gagged

I am a 27 yr old female and my doctor has stated he think i may wish to have my tonsils taken out due to 5 throat infections this year. I really DO NOT want to have them removed, i am very wary of surgery unless it is to save a life and i know the recovery is pretty bad for adults.
Is there anything i can do to help keep my tonsils healthy and bacteria free?
Thanks!

I recently diagnosed myself with tonsil stones.. the little smelly white things that come out of your throat… well many people said that they had them, too and it is common. My question is how the h e l l do i get rid of them. I can feel them and taste them. Only one has dropped and now I have the same symptoms I had before that one came out- sore throat, bad taste in my mouth… I have tried q-tips, mouthwash, and I just can’t bear it any longer. How do I get them out or prevent them from coming back?

Some symptoms of my tonsillitis infection have persisted a full year after i first had it. I still have swollen lymph nodes and inflimation next to the bottom of my rib cage on borth sides of my abdomen. Here is my original question….
<>
I came down with tonsillitis middle of november 05. Standard symptoms, was out of comission for a few days. Then slowly started feeling better. 2 weeks later i noticed i popping in my ears with the ocassional ringing. no big deal. 2-3 weeks after that i noticed swelling near the bottom of my rib cage on the left side then the right.
i started worrying it was strep. went to clinic and had a rapid strep test (throat culture) came back negative. been living with a swollen abdomen, clicking ears, dark red tonsills, swollen glands in the neck, and a host of unrelated pains for the last 2 months.
The swelling in my abdomen and neck glands should have gone away but they almost do and then come back in full force.
